Our Best Friend

I've recently been thinking about friends. It's been hard for me to find and make friends here at school, and I don't know what I would have done, had it not been for Josh.  But, God's been teaching me about friendship in accordance with His everlasting love.  Just yesterday I read in 1 Samuel about the friendship between David and Jonathan.  Their relationship was based on a love of Christ and an understanding of His ways. They both lived with God as the head, and they had an unbreakable bond.  Not even when Jonathan found out that David was going to be king and not him, was their relationship broken. They remained faithful to one another.

This to me embodies God's love for us, in the truest sense. He will never leave us. Not even when we put ourselves above Him. (and we do that often) He remains faithful, and so must we. We must remain true to the one who loves us more than anything else. The one who created us, sustains us, and fills our lives.

God will bring friends.  But, I think for me the thing He wants for me right now, is to be His friend. He wants me to run to him, and not others.  God deserves more than I give. waaaaayyyy more.  He loves me even when I don't necessarily love Him. Thanks God for being you.

  1. Oh I adore this post and I completely agree! God wants us to run to Him, and that's what makes him so awesome. He knows our every problem before we even bring it to him. Listen to the song "I Stand in Awe" (if you haven't already :)). I think you'll like it!

  2. I'm so thankful to have friends like you, Emily. :) I think that now more than ever, when we're at the brink of our lives, that we have to remind ourselves of this a lot more often. He's got us on His mind, why shouldn't we do the same?
